Abstract tufted rugs

Round is the shape nobody stocks. Walk any big US rug site and the round section is a fraction of the rectangles, mostly jute and mostly beige, because round is harder to weave and harder to sell in volume. It is not harder to tuft. Three of the eight pieces here are round: a face at 27.5 in and two whirlpools at 33 in. They exist because somebody drew them that way, not because a loom allowed it.

The drawings run from pure abstraction to shapes you can still name: a face pulled apart into flats, a wave, two whirlpools, leaves flattened into blocks of color, a parquet in red and orange. None of it is a print of a painting. Each design was drawn for yarn first: acrylic strand pushed by hand through backing cloth stretched tight on a frame, one field of color at a time, then leveled and carved in passes so a shape has an actual edge and sits at its own height. That is what you are looking at in the photographs: relief, not a picture of relief.

These pieces are intended primarily as textile wall art. If displayed on the floor, regular or heavy foot traffic is not recommended. Every one has a non-slip base on the reverse, so a bedroom corner or the foot of a bed is fair game; a hallway is not what they are built for.

Nothing here is sitting in a warehouse. Each is tufted after you order, from three business days depending on size, and any of the eight can be redrawn at dimensions you name.
