Custom portrait rugs from your photograph
This is a commissioned portrait that happens to be made of yarn instead of oil paint. Send one photo of your dog, cat or horse. Ksenia draws it by hand, pulls yarn shades against the real coat, and does not start tufting until you approve what you see.
Textile art for wall or floor display
Hand-tufted decorative pieces in acrylic yarn, or wool and blends if you ask, meant first of all as textile wall art. They can go on the floor, but regular or heavy foot traffic is not recommended.
Original acrylic paintings for modern interiors
Ksenia Derr also paints on canvas, working anywhere from abstraction and Impressionism through Fauvism and Pop Art. Every piece is painted and signed by hand. Subject and dimensions are agreed before the first brushstroke.
Gold leaf and other materials go in when the composition calls for them, not as an upcharge menu.
Tufted wall hangings
A tufted wall piece has the depth of cut pile and the presence of a painting, which is why most of these end up over a couch rather than under a coffee table. Send an abstract, a photograph or a work you like. You approve the mockup and the dimensions before the gun starts.
How a custom rug is made
1. Concept and references
Email the photo, the sketch, or just the idea. That is where the subject, the scale and the palette get settled, before a single line of the mockup is drawn.
2. Scope and quote
Size, palette, material and price go in writing. A 30% deposit holds your slot and starts the drawing. The other 70% waits until you have seen the finished piece photographed.
3. Vector mockup and revisions
You get a full color mockup drawn against the yarn shades actually on the shelf. Ask for changes as many times as you need; revisions at this stage are free. Nothing gets tufted until you say go.
4. Tufting and backing
Once you approve it, Ksenia traces the drawing onto the stretched backing and tufts it one color at a time. The adhesive then goes on the back and dries all the way through.
5. Shearing and hand finishing
Off the frame, the pile gets leveled, the details shaped with a trimmer and the edges finished by hand with scissors. Photographs and video of the finished rug reach you before you pay the balance.
6. Shipping and guarantee
It ships free and tracked anywhere in the US, five to ten days on the road. If it shows up damaged, send photos within seven days and we repair it, replace it or refund it.
Painting and tufting both begin with a drawing. For a custom piece, I study the references, decide what must remain recognizable, and build the work from there, one choice at a time.

How long does it take to make a custom rug?
Made-to-order rugs run three to seventeen business days before they ship, depending on size. The exact date also turns on the design and the material, and it comes with the quote.
Will the rug match the approved design exactly?
Yes. You see the yarn palette before anything is tufted, so you can hold the shades against your own wall in daylight and again under lamps. Photographs and video of the finished piece come to you before it ships.
What’s the starting price?
Prices start at $360 for a 33 × 33 inch rug. Final cost varies by design complexity, size, and materials.
How do I know the rug’s colors will match my interior?
Yarn samples go out to you, and the mockup is built from those same shades. You also see how each color reads in full light and in shadow, because a coat that photographs black is almost never black in yarn.
How long is shipping and is tracking provided?
Shipping is free and tracked anywhere in the US, and free across the EU as well; everywhere else is quoted on request. Most parcels land in five to ten days, and every one carries a tracking number.
Can you design the rug if I don’t have a concept?
Yes. Send photographs of the room, the measurements in inches, and whatever colors or subjects belong in it. A drawing and a palette come back for your approval.
What materials do you use?
Everything here is tufted in acrylic yarn. Wool and acrylic–wool blends are available if you ask for them, and wool runs two to three times the price, so we settle the material and the number before anyone picks up a gun.
Can I hang the rug on a wall?
Yes. Most pieces come with mounting loops sewn to the textile back, so a dowel and two nails will hang it. Very large wall works are prepared for tension framing instead.
How do I care for the rug?
Start with a lint roller. Vacuum on gentle suction with the beater bar off: the rotating brush pulls at the pile, and the airflow alone does the work. Deep stains go to a professional rug cleaner.
Do you offer warranty or returns?
Yes. In-stock catalog pieces can be returned within 14 days of delivery, unused and in their original condition, with return shipping paid by the customer. Work made to order cannot be returned for a change of mind, because you approve the mockup and the final photographs before it ships. If you find a defect, contact us within seven days with photographs and we will arrange a repair, replacement or refund.
How does the custom order process work?
Send the idea, the palette or the references. A mockup comes back and gets revised with you as many times as it takes. The moment you approve it, tufting starts and the design is locked. Progress updates run through to finishing.
Do you make pet portraits or other original designs?
Yes. Pet portraits are drawn from the photograph you email in, and the same commission runs for any animal: dogs, cats, horses. Other original designs work exactly the same way.
What if I need to make changes to the design?
You get a detailed mockup first and can send it back for changes as often as you like, at no cost. Once you approve it and the gun starts, the design is fixed: yarn cannot be un-punched from the backing.
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit and debit cards, PayPal and bank transfer. Pieces already in stock are paid in full. Anything made to order starts with a 30% deposit, and the balance is only due once you have seen photographs of the finished work.
