About this piece
This piece is intended primarily as textile wall art. If displayed on the floor, regular or heavy foot traffic is not recommended.
Thick swirls of mustard yellow, deep blue and rust red chase one another around a circle. This is not a pattern that happens to be cropped round: the composition was drawn for the shape, the swirls rotating around the center, so the rug has no top or bottom and can face any direction in the room.
A round textile piece earns its place where rectangles accumulate: on a wall beside angular furniture, in a child’s room or above a studio desk. At 84 cm across (33 in), it marks a reading area, workspace or playroom with a circular accent. It weighs 4 kg (8 lbs), and the non-slip textile underside helps keep it stable when displayed on the floor.
The piece is hand-tufted from acrylic yarn. Working with a tufting gun, Kseniia Derr fills in the drawing color by color on a stretched textile base, then shears the pile even; each swirl ends up as a raised field of yarn with a clean edge against its neighbours, so the movement in the design survives the making. Acrylic keeps the palette bright and the upkeep short: lint roller for dust and hair, gentle vacuum when needed, professional cleaning for stains that go deeper than the surface.
The Swirls of Energy Rug is made to order at $255 and ships in two to three weeks, free and tracked, across the EU and to the US. As with all our designs, the diameter is not fixed: the same swirls can be tufted into a larger circle, or the colors adjusted to your room, as a custom commission.
