Hruma has sat for us twice. The realistic version of her face is listed on its own as the Custom Pet Rug; this is the second take, in which the same cat comes apart into patches of loud color, nearer to what an Impressionist would have done with her than to what a lens records. Muzzle, ears and eyes keep the geometry of the original photograph, which is what holds the likeness together. Only the palette runs free. Either road runs the same way. Dogs, cats and horses fill most of the order book, and any pet at all can be tufted, because the piece begins as a drawing rather than as a print. Send us a clear photo of your dog or cat, we redraw it by hand as a color mockup and choose the yarn palette against it, and tufting waits on your approval. A hand-held gun then drives acrylic yarn through a textile base, one patch of color at a time. When the adhesive backing has dried the piece leaves the frame, and the pile is leveled and shaped in stages. Nothing about this is printed: every shade is its own yarn, and the finished square is meant first of all for a wall.
