About this piece
This piece is intended primarily as textile wall art. If displayed on the floor, regular or heavy foot traffic is not recommended.
Prince is a real horse, and this hand-tufted rug is his portrait: the last photograph in the gallery shows the source picture and the finished piece side by side. His head is worked in loose strokes of yarn the way a painter would lay down brushwork, while the background breaks into fields of blue, yellow and pink. From across a room it reads as an abstract composition; up close, the horse emerges, down to the pink of his tongue.
The rug measures 84 × 84 cm (33 × 33 in) and weighs about 2 kg. The square format gives the portrait a compact, balanced presence on a bedroom or study wall. The textile back takes mounting loops on request, and at this weight ordinary picture hardware holds it without trouble. The non-slip textile backing helps keep the piece stable when displayed on the floor.
Kseniia Derr tufts each piece herself with a hand-held tufting gun, driving acrylic yarn through a stretched textile base line by line, then shears the pile even. Acrylic keeps its color in daylight and takes everyday cleaning calmly: a lint roller for dust and hair, a gentle vacuum when it needs more, professional cleaning for anything deeper.
This design is made to order: allow two to three weeks before it ships, with free tracked delivery across the EU and to the US. And because the portrait starts from a photograph, the same commission works for your own horse: send a picture, approve the color mockup we draw from it, and choose whatever size fits your space. The 84 × 84 cm format starts at $360; other sizes are quoted from your photo and measurements.
