About this piece
This piece is intended primarily as textile wall art. If displayed on the floor, regular or heavy foot traffic is not recommended.
Most pet portraits stop at the face. This one is the whole cat: Lucian at full length, tail, paws and fur markings included, tufted on a plain blue ground that makes the figure read clearly from across the room. One of the photographs splits the image in half, tufted rug above, source photo below, so you can judge the likeness yourself.
At 150 × 82 cm (59 × 32.3 in) the rug is well past life size, and at 4.5 kg (9.92 lbs) it has real presence on the wall: the textile back takes mounting hardware and holds the piece as substantial textile wall art in a living room, hallway or child’s room.
The likeness is built the slow way. From your photographs Kseniia Derr draws a full-body mockup and matches yarn colors to the animal’s actual coat; the close-ups show how many separate shades of gray, brown and cream go into fur that reads as natural. After you approve the mockup, the rug is tufted in acrylic yarn on a textile base. Once the adhesive backing has dried, it comes off the frame and the pile is levelled and shaped in stages. A non-slip textile layer keeps it stable when displayed on the floor.
Because the drawing is made from scratch for every order, the format is flexible: a smaller cat, a larger dog, a different background color, any size that suits your space. This example costs $475 at 150 × 82 cm; other sizes are quoted from your photo and measurements. A full-body custom cat rug takes two to three weeks to make and then ships free across the EU and to the US, with tracking. Care is the usual routine for acrylic pile: lint roller first, a gentle vacuum when needed, professional cleaning for serious stains, no machine washing.
