Tufted wall hangings

A tufted wall hanging gives an image physical relief. Each piece here is tufted by hand in our studio, with acrylic yarn driven through a stretched textile base color field by color field. After the adhesive backing has dried, the piece comes off the frame and the pile is leveled and shaped in stages, so every part of the drawing has a defined edge and depth.

The gallery below is the wall side of the catalog. The cubist lobster is textile wall art in the strict sense, a hand-tufted picture intended primarily for the wall. The Van Gogh Sunflowers replica and the red-and-orange parquet piece are conceived as wall works and come with hanging loops attached. The two leaf designs lead a double life: a non-slip backing for the floor and loops for the wall, so the same piece can be an accent rug by the bed one year and textile wall art over a desk the next. For floor display, regular or heavy foot traffic is not recommended.

Hanging is simple. The loops are glued to the sturdy textile back, so a piece goes up the way a framed print does: no stretcher, no drilling through fabric. The smaller pieces here, around 80 × 60 cm and 2.5 kg, hang from ordinary picture hooks; the large cubist lobster is the exception and ships prepared for tension framing, stretched taut like a canvas by any framer.

Alongside the works in the catalog, any rug we make can be prepared for the wall; say so when ordering and the loops are attached before shipping. A wall hanging can also be commissioned outright: send a drawing, a photograph or a color palette, and it is tufted in any size your wall needs, with the design agreed before work begins. Pieces marked in stock ship within five to ten days; made-to-order work takes two to three weeks. Shipping is free across the EU and to the US with a tracking number.

Common questions

How does a tufted wall hanging attach to the wall?

Hanging loops are glued to the sturdy textile back, so the piece hangs like a framed print: no stretcher and no drilling through the fabric. At around 2.5 kg for an 80 × 60 cm piece, ordinary picture hooks are enough.

Can any of your rugs be hung as wall art?

Yes. Every rug in the catalog has a textile back that takes hanging loops: say so when ordering and we attach them. Many clients treat the rugs as textile art rather than floor pieces.

Can I order a custom tufted wall hanging?

Yes. Send a drawing, a photograph or a color palette; the studio makes a color mockup, agrees the size and yarn shades with you, and tufts the piece after your approval. Made-to-order work takes two to three weeks, in any size your wall needs.

How do I keep a wall hanging clean?

Go over the pile with a lint roller from time to time, and blot any spill with a clean cloth and a mild cleaning solution. Deep cleaning is best left to a professional service.
