Attributes of the Manege sets a white Lipizzaner among the equipment of classical horsemanship: bridles, saddles, bits, riding boots, gloves, grooming tools and long ribbons. The horse holds the center of the canvas, quiet, with the working objects of a riding hall arranged around him.

The painting looks back to the historic tradition of Viennese horsemanship. Every piece of tack points to the preparation, discipline and care that come before a performance in the manege. Human handling has left its marks across the objects, while the Lipizzaner himself does not move.

Blue, leather brown and gold read like an equestrian collection laid out for display, and they carry the ceremony of the classical manege with them.
